Software Patents: The battle was won, but the war has hardly begun
Posted by admin on Friday, August 29, 2003 - 10:31 AM
Patents admin writes "After the protests in Brussels this week and online it has been announced that the "McCarthy report" , discussing the patentability of "computer-implemented inventions", including software methods and techniques, has been withdrawn pending "further examination at committee level".

This is certainly a victory, but there is more work to be done. You can help by signing the petition.

See here for more information on the dangers of software patents. This hasn't been officially announced yet. The source for this is the European Parliament Office in Ireland."
