Netscape is no more |
admin writes "The Netscape browser, which for many years was the main competitor to "the other browser" is no more. AOL have made most of the Netscape browser division workforce redundant. Netscape plan to continue to support current versions of the browser, but future releases are unlikely.
Luckily, Netscape is no longer the only alternative to Internet Explorer and the greatest loss is not the Netscape browser itself, but the many Netscape employees who develop the Mozilla browser."

Netscape 7.0 Brings Mozilla to the Masses |
admin writes "All but the Netscape name has taken a giant leap forward in Version 7.0. Just released as a free download, Netscape 7.0 packages the open-source, developer-oriented Mozilla browser into a consumer-friendly package, complete with shopping links, Net2Phone, Web radio, and integrated AIM with an option to display your AIM buddy list in the browser. Fortunately, you can turn off the shopping links, bookmarks, and other clutter and turn Netscape into a sleek, fast, friendly browser that may make you consider switching from Microsoft Internet Explorer as your default browsing tool.
